Weekly Update

Happy Friday!

Thank you to the Gonzales Family and Frosty Frog for all your support on campus today! Our kids enjoyed their treats.

 

On October 17th we will have our STEM night sponsored by Microsoft. We will have robotics, coding, and lots of other fun for all the family. We hope that you come out and join us at 5:30pm.

 

 

As a reminder, AFIA students get a complete version of the latest Microsoft Office for free to use as long as they're students! Visit office.com to download.

We have several student-teachers from local universities that will be on campus beginning next week to help support our students during the day and after school. Our goal is to continue to provide support to all of our students in a multitude of ways. If there is any other way that we can assist, please do not hesitate to contact us!

Picture Day

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Picture day will be September 27th and 28th. All elementary students will take their pictures on September 27th and middle and high school will be September 28th. These pictures will be used for our school yearbook.

 

Thank you to everyone that came out to our first PFO meeting. At the meeting we discussed meeting purposes and expectations, end-of-the year trips, fundraising, and volunteering on campus.

 

 

Thank you to Mrs. Leal and Bahama Bucks for coming out on Friday to support our school! On Friday September 28th we will have the Frosty Frog on campus during lunch!

 

 

On September 26th we will have a parent meeting at 6pm to discuss our new TEAMS program and other online programs on campus. We look forward to seeing you all there!

Congratulations to our middle and high school volleyball teams! Both teams won on Friday and evened out their records at 1-1.

AFIA Weekly Update

AFIA families,

It has been another amazing week at AFIA. We have some exciting additions coming soon to our campus. You will start to notice our new playground being installed soon! This will allow for more activities for our students to take part in throughout the day. Our staff will also begin sharing their tutoring hours with you. Tutoring is meant as additional support for your student throughout the week.

Get ready for Taco Tuesday! Taco orders can be purchased on Tuesday mornings in the high school plaza. Thank you to our amazing PFO for organizing this for our students. Taco's are sold for a $1, cash only. 

On Friday September 21st we will have Bahama Bucks on campus during lunch. If you would like for your student to purchase anything, please send them with some extra money on Friday. Bahama Bucks will be available for all grades! Elementary parents, if you send your student with money in a zip lock bag, labeled with your child's name, our staff will hold it for them until lunch time. 

Would you like to volunteer on Pizza Fridays? Please e-mail Dr. Vaughn or I and we can set up our volunteer training and get you on board. Thanks for your support with this! 

Progress reports will go out next week. Attached to your child's progress report will be access to Parent Portal. Parent portal will provide you access to see your student's grades throughout the week. Once you receive access to parent portal, please contact Mrs. Grace if you have any questions (gcasarez@braination.net) 

Mrs. Sparks is conducting Senior Meetings next week. If you have a 12th grader, please contact Mrs. Sparks (esparks@braination.net or 210-638-5900) to set up a meeting.

Good afternoon AFIA families,
It has been a great week at AFIA! Students are starting to use their devices to learn and login to the programs we will use throughout the school year.  This year we are a Microsoft in Education school. Your child will use this by logging in at www.office.com. Their login follows this format: firstnamelastname08@inspirecharter.com Their password is their 6 digit birth date. This combination is also part of their computer and content keeper login (our internet filter) so they will use it daily. We are still getting students into this and other programs so we are not fully relying on them yet. On September 26th at 6pm we will have a parent meeting to go over how our online programs work.

Our first PFO meeting will be on September 19th in the middle school plaza at 6pm. If you would like to join our Parent-Facilitator-Organization, please attend this meeting. We will be discussing fundraising opportunities and our middle and high school end-of-the year trips.
